A good overview of the two sides of the push towards AI engineering, and why they talk past each other.
- The line that stuck with me: “there is no natural feedback loop connecting enthusiasts with skeptics.” The people getting the speed-up and the people inheriting the maintenance are often not the same people, so neither side feels what the other feels.
- Her take is to treat this as both a leadership challenge and an engineering challenge, and to deliberately design feedback loops that mend the gap in shared reality between the two groups.
This is the kind of thing we’re trying to work through on my team right now, so it landed well.
